“Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) is an extensible framework for developing workflow solutions on the Windows platform. As part of the upcoming WinFX library, WF provides a single, unified model to create end-to-end solutions that span categories of applications, including human workflow and system workflow. WF is a broad and general-purpose workflow framework, designed for extensibility from the ground up and at every level. WF-based solutions are made of interconnected components—activities—backed up by .NET code and running in a host application.

WF provides a workflow engine, a .NET managed API and a visual designer and debugger integrated with Visual Studio 2005. You can use WF to build and execute workflows that span both the client and server, and can be executed within all types of .NET applications. The workflow runtime provides rich services beyond those available in the base CLR, including automatic program persistence, compensating transactions, and runtime inspection and monitoring of program state. Just as you create your Web pages visually in a tailor-made environment, you compose the steps of your specific workflow in a visual designer and add code behind workflow components to implement rules and define the business process”

Adobe Photoshop & Microsoft Expression Web Training

DevNext User Group recently arranged a full day workshop on Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Expression Web at Nuvica Pakistan office. Imad Qamar was the speaker all day, he is one nice addition to DevNext Speaker’s Club. Thank you Imad for such a lively and informative session. So, why we focused on these two technologies? It’s my believe that whether you are a developer or a designer or a writer or whatever :) , you must get aware of these tools. We all are designer’s at heart, we all want to express our imagination, we all want to portray our brain child to the rest of the world. So, the easiest way to do that is to get trained and then the designs starts pouring. So, the basic aim of this training is to let the Nuvica family get familiar with the Web/Graphics designing stuff. Now I think every member of our family can come up with something innovative, something unique :)

[DigitalEyez 2008] Nuvica as Sponsor

Ali Raza Shaikh

As said earlier that DigitalEyez started with a dream! A dream to innovate, a dream to bring something new, a dream to do big with small team, a dream to achieve the impossible. But the question here is that Did we achieved something out of this event? What benefits Nuvica got by sponsoring this event? Or is it just the waste of time and money?

As DigitalEyez was the first event for Nuvica as sponsors, so we were expecting something different, something new and we are thankful to the team that we got that. Our motive behind this event was to come up with new layouts for official Nuvica Website, a new look & feel and at the end of the day more 15 layouts were submitted for review. Great! See the complete gallery here

Second motive was to identify talented graphic designers. I am glad that some really talented designers participated and showed us their skills. Most of them were invited at Nuvica for interview and we offered job to them. Looking forward to have them as a part of Nuvica family. At the end of the day Raj Kataria from Usman Insititute of Technology won the Website Designing Competition, Congrats Raj! You did a superb flash work. Faizan Saeed also from Usman Insititute of Technology came second. A nice little update was made on UIT website about their achievements.

“DIGITALeyez-All-Pakistan Inter-University Photography, Media & Design Competition at NUCES-FAST Karachi, was conducted on 12th April, 2008 at the FAST main campus Karachi. A number of prominent public and private sector universities from all cities of the country took part. Usman Institute of Technology won the 1st and the 2nd Prizes, both in the Web Designing competition.

The First Prize was awarded to Mr. Raj (07A-20-BS) and the Second Prize was awarded to Mr. Faizan Saeed (04B-40-BS). Both the participants are from the Department of Computer Science, Usman Institute of Technology. “

In the end, I will like to THANK all the Participants, DigitalEyez Team, Nuvica Guys & Girls and all others for making this event as a trend setter for others. Thank you all!

Idea of Starting Up

Some time ago, my friend forwarded me an article on world best companies in the world. As I was reading it, I realized that their founders had a vision in their mind which they successfully able to convey to their employees and with that they were able to build billion dollar giants. That made me think on how I’ll be able to contribute to my newly founded company since I very much like the idea of laying the basis for the world best company in the world.

After my limited exposure in the market, I came to this conclusion that to be productive and successful company, you need focus, enthusiasm and positive frame of mind. It’s very easy to get discouraged especially if you live in a place where bombs and negative attitudes are very common. The biggest lesson for us to learn now is to ignore the negative vibes and fear, work like a team instead of proving just individual capabilities and trust ourselves.

Currently we’re a team of youngsters, freshly out in the market with big dreams and desire to be something big, really big. We all have our own respective talents to explore and drawbacks to overcome. But we have started and we are daring to dream big and fully aware that there are hurdles to overcome if we want to stay a step ahead. And we know that can do that.

Why should I save Earth?

Filed under: Global Events, video — Tags: , — Ali Raza Shaikh @ 11:57 pm

How many times we heard about the term Global Warming? And how many times we completely ignored this biggest future challenge? Our biggest problem is that we can’t identify a crisis unless it comes with a ‘DANGER’ sign.

Ever pictured a future where you get short of your energy requirements, with the birth of every infant an energy consumer appears on the face of [not so] green earth. The following videos will help you understand the effects of Global Warming.

[DigitalEyez 2008] Overview

Filed under: Ali Raza Shaikh — Tags: , — Ali Raza Shaikh @ 10:44 am

DigitalEyez started with a dream! A dream to innovate, a dream to bring something new, a dream to do big with small team, a dream to achieve the impossible and who else can see this dream other than our very own The Webmaster Team. Hats off to the team. You guys and girls did a superb job!

My interaction with the team started during the first week of February when a friend said “Webmaster is going for a All-Pakistan Photography event”, my first reaction was “WHAT! Webmaster aur Photography event? Dimaag karab hoo gaya hai inn ka”, then he asked “Why not?”, my answer was “Why not a website designing competition? I will sponsor that and it will go with the theme and objectives of the Webmasters”. So ultimately, web designing and other competitions were added to the DigitalEyez recipe. Sponsorship deal confirmed on 12th February ( Thanks to Ammar for making a nice package for us :P ). So, from day 01, I started criticizing about the team lack of response, poor marketing material etc etc. Azim and Talha are the guys who took notice of all my complains and reacted immediately. Thanks guys! My criticizing was just to speed up the process and to improve your marketing material :) . All in all it was a enjoyable journey with the team to make this event successful.

@Azim – How can I forget all those late night IM messages, server problems, domain issue :)

@Talha – How can I forget all the khuwari we did in making Shields, Stickers, Banners, printing webmaster badges and khappa’s ;)

@Farrukh – Thanks for letting me know about the Café Vision – Young Achievers thing!

@Muhammad Atif – Thanks for making Web Designing a success for us!

I know, expectations were not that high but the team pulled out a awesome event within the allotted budget. I will do another post from sponsors point of view, to read more about the DigitalEyez experience, lots of people blogged about it here, here, here , here and here. So, at the end, my mail to the team, faculty and dean says all

Assalamu-Alikum

Dear Team, first of all I would like to thank you all for your contribution in making DigitalEyez a success for Nuvica. As you all know, this event was the first event that we sponsored in Pakistan. I am thankful to the DigitalEyez team for making this event a rocking one for us. You guys/girls deserve a gift from our end. So, stay tuned for that!

Nuvica as a young startup company got a lot of promotion through this event. Our name was on the same level as that of Kalsoft , TPS and Canon. Web Design competition was a rocking one as we got many design samples for our new Nuvica website. We were able to highlight many talented resources during the event and most of them InshAllah will be the part of Nuvica Team. To my amaze, I was able to attract a lot of non-technical students i.e. participants of Expression got interested in joining Nuvica as Designers. 100+ participants attended this event which is higher than Procom and other
competitions previously held in Karachi. Nuvica representation on Young Achievers Program was awesome. All in all a tremendous event for us. In the end, I would like to say SORRY if Nuvica gave you people some hard time.

So, DigitalEyez 2009 going International, that’s great news guys. So, I am taking this opportunity to announce Nuvica as the sponsor for next wave too :) . You guys did it! Congrats again!

So guys, Party Time!

Best regards,

Ali Raza Shaikh
